DOROTHY W. COLOM, Sr. Chancellor

Judge Colom serves as the Senior Judge for the Fourteenth Chancery Court District. A 1974 graduate of Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, Judge Colom received her J.D. from Antioch School of Law in Washington, D.C., in 1978.

In 1979, Judge Colom began her legal career as a staff attorney with North Mississippi Rural Legal Services. In 1980, she joined the firm of Colom and Colom, where she practiced for fourteen years. From 1980 until 1988, she also was the Project Director of Judicare of Mississippi, Inc., a legal services program. In 1987, she was appointed as Special Youth Court Referee for Lowndes County. Prior to being elected Chancery Court Judge, she served as Judge Pro Tem for the City of Columbus.



KENNETH M. BURNS
, Chancellor

Judge Burns serves as Chancery Judge for the Fourteenth Chancery Court District. In 1969, he received a B.S. degree in Business from Mississippi State University and subsequently received his J.D. from the University of Mississippi in 1972.

Judge Burns was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1972 and began his legal career in private practice in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. Prior to being elected Chancery Court Judge in 2003, he served as Company Commander in the Mississippi National Guard. He also served as a School Board Hearing Officer and was a Municipal Judge for thirteen years. Judge Burns is a former President of the Chickasaw County Bar Association and a former President of the Okolona Chamber of Commerce. Judge Burns has been married to his wife, Glenda, for more than 40 years and they have two adult children and two grandchildren.

 

H. J. DAVIDSON, JR., Chancellor

Judge Davidson was elected as Chancery Judge for the Fourteenth Chancery Court District on November 21, 2006.  He was sworn in and began his service on January 1, 2007.  Judge Davidson has 35 years of practice primarily in the Chancery Court and also served as a tenured Professor at Mississippi University for Women for 32 years.  He also served as a trained Arbitrator and Mediator for over 16 years.  Judge Davidson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Mississippi and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1974. He was admitted to practice before all state courts and federal courts in Mississippi, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Judge Davidson has been active in his community serving as President of the Columbus-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce, the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science Foundation, the Lowndes Community Foundation, and the Salvation Army Advisory Board.

Judge Davidson and his wife, Jamie, have three adult children and two grandchildren.
